In mid October 2021 I did a 13 month bicycle trip starting in Tokyo Japan, it took me not the most direct way to the south of Japan, a month in Okinawa, then went to Sri Lanka and looped it, afterwards a month in Thailand and after more than two years living abroad in Japan, finally back to Europe. From Paris I rode along the Loire to the Atlantic coast, followed Canal Du Midi down south, entered Spain and followed the coast all the way to Gibraltar… In Portugal I continued along the coast into Northern Spain and back to France and Canal du Midi again, then Côte d’Azur into Monaco and Bella Italia. Followed Via Aurelia down to Pisa and turned left into the mountains of Tuscany, further south onto Umbria and Abruzzo, did a little detour to the Adriatic sea and Barletta, from there via Apulia back inland to Matera and along the coast of Calabria to Sicily. Looped the island and went back mostly inland towards Naples, further onto Roma and back to Pisa, then cut east north over a few mountains to Ferrara and Veneto to Friulia-Venezia. More mountains in Austria, via Klagenfurt and Graz to Wien. Continued to Bratislava and towards the Tatras mountains, back south to Kosice and further east towards the Slovak/Ukraine border. Crossed the border in Ub’la into Malyy Bereznyy and visited Uzhhorod. From there into the hilly Carpathians and to Ivano-Frankivsk. Further onto Chernivtsi, where I took a bus to Kyiv. Visited Irpin, Hostomel and Bucha. It was getting cold, so I decided to go back west again, rode via Zhytomyr, Rivne and Lutsk to Lviv. Said bye and Слава Україні! and went over the border in Medyka back into the EU and Przemyśl. Made it to Lublin and Warszawa. Took a train out of Warszawa and rode to Olsztyn, continued towards the Baltic Sea, had a short look at the Russian border in Nowa Pasleka. Rode to Gdansk and visited Sopot and Gdynia and also Hel, then continued along the Baltic coast towards Kolobrzeg and to Szczecin, a little stopover in Gorzow Wlkp before returning to Berlin after 13 month of travel and cycling approximately 22,375 km…
